- Chris Newman's Newman
Family Tree focusses on his ancestral lineage beginning in Salisbury
at the start of the 15th century. This branch of Newmans settled around
the borders of Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire, taking a lease over the
Fifehead manorial estate early in the 16th century. In the 17th and
18th centuries, they inherited or married into wealth, enabling them
to purchase freehold title to the Fifehead and several other estates.
Chris's website includes pages describing several other descendants
of the Fifehead Newmans including emigrants who settled in Ireland,
USA, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
