There are a few websites that provide information about the Newman name and various Newman lineages. These include:

  • Robert Newman's Newman One-Name Study provide the most comprehensive collection of Newmans, and names linked to them. Robert's list is constantly growing, so warrents regular visits by people researching their Newman ancestry.

  • Charlie Brook's Internet Surname Database offering a brief history of the Newman name.
  • Chris Newman's Newman Family Tree focusses on his ancestral lineage beginning in Salisbury at the start of the 15th century. This branch of Newmans settled around the borders of Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire, taking a lease over the Fifehead manorial estate early in the 16th century. In the 17th and 18th centuries, they inherited or married into wealth, enabling them to purchase freehold title to the Fifehead and several other estates. Chris's website includes pages describing several other descendants of the Fifehead Newmans including emigrants who settled in Ireland, USA, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

  • Dina Broughton's page which provides information about the Newman Family from Castle Combe, Wiltshire, England, covering the period 1687 to the present day.

  • A section of David Beswick's website providing information about George Newman of Tasmania and his descendants, covering the period 1855 to the late 20th Century.

  • There is a Newman Genealogy Group to be found on Facebook. This is a "closed" group administered by Robert Newman to whom one has to apply to join.

  • Also on Facebook is a page for Linda D Newman's Genealogy Services.
  • Finally, some fine Newman coats of arms have been researched by John Lehman and can be found at http://coadb.com/index.php?search=newman.
